Magnetic esophageal sphincter device benefits patients with GERD

The New England Journal of Medicine published the three-year results of a study of 100 patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) who received treatment in the form of a new magnetic device to augment the lower esophageal sphincter. The study found that exposure to esophageal acid decreased, reflux symptoms improved and use of proton-pump inhibitors decreased in the patients who received the LINX® Reflux Management System.
