Biography
I am a radiation oncologist at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and serve as Head of Thoracic Radiation Oncology, Department of Radiation Oncology, and Director of Thoracic Radiation Oncology at MGH Cancer Center. I currently have NIH/NIBIB RO1 grant (5 RO1 EB002907) to study bioimaging in radiotherapy for lung cancer (Partners protocol 03-282). The main goal of this study is to develop a new model of radiation therapy for patients with lung cancer. In addition, I have collaborated with thoracic oncologists within Partners for Partners protocols, and national collaborative study groups: Cancer and Leukemia Group B, Radiation Therapy Oncology Group.
I have trained over 120 residents over the past 36 years (1974-2010) and 60% of these are holding academic faculty position in US and abroad. There are 10 graduates who hold leadership position as chair and/or professor of radiation oncology. My mentoring in thoracic radiation oncology resulted in over 20 academic thoracic radiation oncologists: I have given lectures at postgraduate courses sponsored by Department of Continuing Medical Education (CME), Harvard Medical School locally, invited lectures at regional meetings, CME courses and invited lectures at national and international meetings, and visiting professor lectures.
