BiographyDr. Quraishi is an expert in the delivery on comprehensive anesthesia care. His areas of focus are regional anesthesia (nerve blocks, epidurals, and spinals), acute pain management, and anesthesia for outpatient surgeries. Dr. Quraishi is also an expert in the delivery of comprehensive critical care services. He currently takes care of patients in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit and the Respiratory Acute Care Unit.

Description of Research

My research broadly focuses on identifying risk factors for suboptimal perioperative outcomes and on promoting cost-effective solutions to improve the care of surgical patients. Currently, my team is interested in the immunomodulatory effect of vitamin D, its perioperative implications, and its potential impact on critically ill patients.Moreover, our work in the area ofperioperative genomics not only involves the study of mutations in the vitamin D receptor gene, but also other targets, which may suggest a higher risk of undesirable outcomes in the perioperative setting.
