BiographyDr. Peng is a gastroenterologist who sub-specializes in diseases of the liver. His clinical training was completed at Harvard Medical School, where he graduated from the M.D.-Ph.D. program, and at Massachusetts General Hospital.

He has a Ph.D. in Chemistry and Chemical Biology from Harvard University. His research involves the use of chemistry and chemical biology to study liver disease and other problems of importance to gastroenterology.

1) Identification and Characterization of Small Molecule Modulators of HCV Replication.

Ceestatin interferes with HCV replication by inhibiting HMG-CoA Synthase.

2) Identification of Small Molecule Modulators of Sonic Hedgehog Signaling.

Robotnikinin inhibits the Sonic Hedgehog signaling by binding to the Sonic Hedgehog protein.

3) Identification of Small Molecule Modulators of Stem Cell Differentiation.

Indolactam V induces stem cells to differentiate into pancreatic progenitor cells.
