BiographyAlbert J. Yoo, MD, is Director of Acute Stroke Intervention in the Division of Interventional Neuroradiology/Endovascular Neurosurgery at Massachusetts General Hospital and Assistant Professor at Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Yoo has extensive experience in the neuroendovascular treatment of complex brain and spinal vascular disorders including aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations and dural arteriovenous fistulas. He is a recognized expert in the diagnosis, management and emergent treatment of major acute ischemic stroke secondary to large artery occlusion. Other areas of expertise include carotid and vertebral angioplasty and stenting for the prevention of stroke, and minimally invasive spine procedures including vertebroplasty/kyphoplasty.
Dr. Yoo leads the Division's clinical research efforts in acute stroke intervention. He has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles and chapters, and serves as an assistant editor for the Journal of NeuroInterventional Surgery. He is also a peer reviewer for leading cerebrovascular journals.
Dr. Yoo graduated with honors from Washington University School of Medicine. He completed an internship in internal medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital, a residency in radiology at Massachusetts General Hospital, and a fellowship in neurointervention at Massachusetts General Hospital.
Dr. Yoo's research interests include endovascular stroke therapy, stroke imaging, aneurysm treatment, AVM embolization and vertebral augmentation.
The Journal of NeuroInterventional Surgery (JNIS) has been accepted for inclusion in the Medline bibliographic database of the U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM).
