MassGeneral Hospital for Children has formalized its pediatric neurosurgery program under the leadership of Ann-Christine Duhaime, MD
Dr. Duhaime is the program director of the Brain Trauma Lab. Her research is focused on understanding the immature brain and its response to injury and other conditions early in life, with the goal of helping human infants and children.
When neurosurgeon Tina Duhaime, MD, of the MGH Youth Sports Concussion Clinic, talks with families about concussion, she takes time to explain what is known, and just as importantly, what isn’t known, about this common injury.
A study of sports programs at three major universities finds that the way the injury commonly called concussion is usually diagnosed – largely based on athletes' subjective symptoms – varies greatly and may not be the best way to determine who is at risk for future problems.
