About Alice Lorch, MD
Dr. Lorch graduated with a BS in Biology from Yale University and subsequently earned her MD at HMS. A graduate of the HMS Residency Program in Ophthalmology, Dr. Lorch served as Chief Resident and Director of the Trauma Service for the academic year 2014-15. After this, she accepted a position as a member of the Comprehensive Ophthalmology and Cataract Consultation Service at Mass. Eye and Ear while completing an MPH in Clinical Effectiveness at the Harvard School of Public Health. In July 2018, she took on the role of Associate Chief for Quality for the Department of Ophthalmology.

Research
Dr. Lorch’s primary research interests include healthcare quality and outcomes. She is currently investigating the use of telemedicine for urgent ophthalmic problems in the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Emergency Room. She has studied the impact of health conditions and health education in Chile and investigated methods for reducing prescription errors in Thailand. She has also performed original research on vision rehabilitation outcomes and three-dimensional imaging of corneal anatomy using ocular coherence tomography (OCT).
