Patricia Donahoe, MD, director of Pediatric Surgical Research Laboratories and chief emerita of Pediatric Surgical Services, is the first recipient of the Ovarian Cancer Academy Dean Award from the U.S. Army.  The award supports established ovarian cancer researchers with a strong record of mentoring and a commitment to leadership. In addition to leading the Ovarian Cancer Academy, a virtual facility that provides intensive mentoring and networking for junior faculty, the academy dean is recognized with the life-long title of Department of Defense Ovarian Cancer Research Professorship.

N. Stuart Harris, MD, MFA, director of the Wilderness Medicine Fellowship of the MGH Emergency Department, has been awarded the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) Alumni Service Award, which recognizes an alumnus who has served the school in exemplary ways as it pursues its mission to teach leadership, conservation and outdoor skills. The award recognizes Harris for his work in establishing "Medicine in the Wild," a 28-day course in the Gila Wilderness of New Mexico that helps third- and fourth-year medical students develop skills in wilderness medicine, leadership
and medical education. The course was created in association with
the Wilderness Medicine Institute - a division of NOLS - and MGH's Emergency Medicine Residency Program.
