The second annual concert at the Goethe Institut Boston brought together more than 100 guests who enjoyed Vietnamese cuisine, a silent auction and musical selections from Chopin, Brahms and Schubert, as well as traditional Vietnamese music. The evening featured several area musicians, including cellist David Fisher, MD, PhD, chief of MGH Dermatology.
“It is deeply inspiring to see the talents and energies of our colleagues directed so effectively at improving the health of these Vietnamese children halfway around the globe,” Fisher says.
The Vascular Anomalies Center was established in 2009 by the MGH and Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. Located in Ho Chi Minh City, it has provided care for more than 2,000 children and also helps train Vietnamese physicians in the latest technologies and treatment options.
“The money raised at the benefit will be used to continue the center’s mission of providing medical care to children, and it will also enable us to help fund an educational exchange program between physicians in Vietnam and the United States,” says Thanh-Nga Tran, MD, PhD, of MGH Dermatology. Tran, along with R. Rox Anderson, MD, director of the MGH Wellman Center for Photomedicine, and Kelly O’Hanlon, office manager for Dermatology, served as the evening’s co-hosts.
