Tayyaba Hasan Tayyaba Hasan, Ph.D.

Dr. Hasan is a Professor of Dermatology at the Wellman Center for Photomedicine and an affiliate Professor of the Health Science Technology program at HMS/MIT. She has an active research program in photobiology and photodynamic therapy with over 150 publications, several patents, with research funded by the National Institutes of Health, the Department of Defense, and industry. She is the Program Director for a National Cancer Institute funded multi-site Program Project Grant. Dr. Hasan has served on the Promotions, Appointments & Reappointments committee and is currently a member of the Sub-committee of Professors, and Faculty Council at Harvard Medical School. Her record of service to the community spans many years and includes chairing the Joint Committee on the Status of Women of Harvard Medical School/Harvard School of Dental Medicine. Additionally, Dr. Hasan serves on a number of scientific advisory boards in academia and industry, international review boards, and study sections for NIH and other funding agencies.

Dr. Skoczenski comes to the Office for Research Career Development from the University of Massachusetts Medical School, where she was an Associate Professor of Psychiatry, faculty member of the Program in Neuroscience, and Director of the Infant Vision Laboratory at the Eunice Kennedy Shriver Center. Her research focused on visual neuroscience, human development and developmental disabilities. She has served on the Women’s Issues Committee and the Diversity Committee for the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology; the Women’s Faculty Committee at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, and an ad hoc women in science discussion group at the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study. She is eager to transfer her experience in research and academic medicine to develop programs for research faculty and postdocs, and assist in all professional development matters.

Peggy is a recent graduate of Assumption College with a Bachelor of Arts in English. Concentrating in writing and mass communication, Peggy had the privilege of being made Director of WACTV, a student-run, on campus news program. Her many extracurricular activities included being an on-air talent as news anchor and entertainment reporter, writing music reviews for the student-run campus newspaper, and numerous volunteer activities including working with the Special Olympics and the Baypath Humane Society. Peggy brings to the office a well-rounded balance of technical and writing skills that will help support the ORCD as it moves forward into new areas of career development for researchers and postdocs.
