AAMC Mid-Career Women Faculty Professional Development Seminar

This seminar is for women at the assistant professor (with a minimum of four years experience in the position) and associate professor levels. It is targeted primarily to physicians but is also pertinent to Ph.D. scientists.
With the application form, applicants must submit a supporting letter from their Dean, Section or Department Head describing how her goals for attending the seminar relate to her work and professional aspirations.
In order to keep workshops small, seminar enrollment will not exceed 130. This seminar offers CME credit.

Nuts and Bolts of Effective Scientific Writing, Conflict Management, Meeting the Challenges of Academic Career Building, Running Effective Meetings and Teambuilding Financial Basics: Getting Smart About Your Dept, Leading from the Middle, Strategic Career Planning, Negotiation Skills, Enhancing your C.V., Creating your own Professional Development Agenda, Building a Case for Diversity Enhancement: Lessons from Our Lived Experience, Demystifying the Promotion Process, Negotiations 101: Financial and Administration Know-How, Winning Research Grants, Time Management and Organizational Skills, and many more.

The Hedwig van Ameringen Executive Leadership in Academic MedicineSM (ELAM) Program for Women is the nation's only in-depth program focused on preparing senior women faculty at schools of medicine, dentistry and public health to move into positions of institutional leadership where they can effect positive change.
ELAM's year-long program develops the professional and personal skills required to lead and manage successfully in today's complex healthcare environment, with special attention to the unique challenges facing women in leadership positions.
Fellows attend three weeklong sessions during the year—one in the fall, on in the spring, and one coinciding with the AAMC annual meeting in November. Between sessions, Fellows pursue independent assignments and develop an institutional action project at their home institution. Deans join their ELAM Fellows for the final 1 1/2 days of the spring session when they explore with a guest expert an issue on methodology pertinent to AHC leadership.
Application, including the Dean's nomination and two recommendations, must be received by ELAM no later than February 1, 2007.

AAMC Early Career Women Faculty Professional Development Seminar

This seminar is a three-day program designed for women assistant professors. The program focuses on academic medicine career-building and skills in CV development and basic management skills. The accomplished seminar faculty offer inspiration and valuable career advice. Attendees are encouraged to develop career goals and objectives through the career mapping sessions. The seminar is targeted primarily at physicians, but is also pertinent for Ph.D. scientists.
The application must be completed online no later than Friday, March 7, 2008. A complete application requires submission of your Curriculum Vitae (CV).

MA Medical Society Women's Lecture Series
To recognize and celebrate the expanding ranks of women in the field, the MMS Committee on Women in Medicine continues to host a lecture series to address topics of interest to female physicians. Topics in the series have ranged from the personal to the professional and the clinical. The Committee offers other lectures and networking meetings for women three to four times per year.
