Sarah Langer, LICSW, has worked at MGH Senior Health since 2002. She received her bachelors degree from the University of Washington and her Masters in Social Work from Walla Walla College.

As a geriatric social worker, she helps families understand the disease process and cope with the day-to-day realities of caring for loved ones. She addresses social and emotional needs, and outlines realistic treatment goals with patients, caregivers and families.

Family meetings not only give everyone involved an opportunity to receive information from the doctor, nurse practitioner and social worker, but also allow for discussions regarding care coordination, caregiver support, and future planning. We may also offer counselling to address diagnoses and the physical and emotional challenges of aging.

Sarah worked as a tax specialist before receiving her degrees in social work. Her first job as a social worker was at Kline Galland Nursing Home in Seattle. There she worked closely with patients with memory disorders.

Sarah moved to Boston in 2001. Outside of the practice, she likes to sew and crochet. Sarah and her husband enjoy walking, cooking and working in their vegetable garden.

"Our Primary Care practice is unique because social workers are part of the team approach. We are here to give patients and families the opportunity to ask questions and share their concerns in a non-threatening environment" ~ Sarah Langer
