Lynette Matthews, NP
Lynette Matthews, Nurse Practitioner at Spaulding Nursing and Therapy Center North End emigrated from Trinidad in 1989 and made a career switch from Accounting to Nursing.
She received her first nursing Diploma from the [then] Youville Hospital School of nursing. With a thirst for more nursing knowledge, she returned to school and obtained her nursing Degree from Laboure College while continuing to provide nursing care and gaining experience in medical, surgical and outpatient primary care.
Lynette found her "niche" (Nursing improving Care for Health system Elders) while providing care for patient at the Community Health Centers, which led her to pursue a Certificate in Health Care Management from Suffolk University. With a passion for caring for the Elderly, she went on to pursue her Masters in Science from Boston College, graduating as a John A. Hartford Foundation scholar, with clinical excellence in Advanced Gerontological Nursing. She is a Board Certified- Geriatric Nurse Practitioner by the American Nursing Credentialing Center (ANCC); Member of- Gerontological Advanced Practice Nurses Association (GAPNA), American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), American Medical Directors Association (amda)and local chapter of Alzheimers Assoc.
Lynette is so committed to Geriatric Nursing Care that she has been Precepting Adult and Geriatric NP students from her Alma Mater- Boston College.
Lynettes clinical interests are in End of Life care focusing on Palliative/Hospice Care, and patients with Dementia/Alzeheimers Disease
Outside of work Lynette loves spending time with her two sons (an IT Engineer and a chemical engineer), travelling, theater, arts, playing the guitar and taking long walks.
