The Richard B. Simches Research Center at Mass General
In the fall of 2004, research at Mass General took an exhilarating new turn with the opening of the Richard B. Simches Research Center. Situated in Charles River Plaza, directly adjacent to the main hospital campus, the center epitomizes a modern, state-of-the-art and interdisciplinary medical research facility.
The Richard B. Simches Research Center is home to four cutting-edge thematic centers, each blending the best of clinical knowledge and scientific exploration:
- The Center for Computational and Integrative Biology – Utilizing discoveries in biomedical and computational research to develop new drug therapies
- The Center for Human Genetic Research – Seeking the genetic roots of disease
- The Center for Regenerative Medicine – Harnessing stem cells to repair or replace damaged tissues and organs
- The Center for Systems Biology – Analyzing the ways in which the human body’s biological and physiological functions work together to impact health and disease
The Richard B. Simches Research Center also houses teams of scientists and clinicians focusing on research and care in brain tumors, cancer, cardiology and psychiatry. The emphasis throughout the center is unmistakable: building interdisciplinary partnerships to expand the boundaries of modern medical research.
