Thousands of runners will have their chance to cross home plate at historic Fenway Park on May 22 during the "Run to Home Base 9K" presented by New Balance. The annual event benefits the Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital Home Base Program, which is dedicated to improving the lives of New England service members and veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan with combat stress disorders and/or traumatic brain injury. The program provides clinical care, family support, community education and innovative research.
The Run to Home Base begins at Fenway Park, winds through Boston and continues along the Charles River, ending with a timed finish back at the park. MGH family, friends, and runners and their families will have the opportunity to enjoy activities, take self-guided tours of the park, meet Red Sox legends and show support and appreciation to service members deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan.
For those who cannot participate as a runner, Home Base invites individuals to support a runner or raise money as a virtual runner. To learn more about the Run to Home Base, visit www.runtohomebase.org.
