Unlocking the Mysteries of Eating Disorders
By David B. Herzog, M.D., Debra L. Franko, Ph.D., and Pat Cable, R.N.
In Conjunction with Harvard Medical School

Aimed primarily at the parents of individuals with eating disorders, this guide is designed to be reader-friendly and accessible to the community at large. In addition to exploring how to recognize an eating disorder and how to motivate one's child to accept help, the authors focus on treatment: what it is, where to find it and how it feels to receive it. The book answers questions such as "What is family therapy?" "What is the Maudsley treatment model?" "Which treatment option is right for my child?" Resonating throughout the text are the stories of families who have journeyed from eating disorder to health, including the voices of patients and their parents.Click to read an excerpt (in PDF format, 114 KB) from the book. The authors welcome your feedback. Published by McGraw-Hill, Unlocking the Mysteries of Eating Disorders can be ordered at Amazon.com.
