Update in Heart, Vascular and Stroke Care for Women 2014

Date: 05/03/2014 - 05/03/2014
Time: 8:00 am - 5:30 pm

Description:
The Massachusetts General Hospital Institute for Heart, Vascular and Stroke Care presents a dynamic symposium on cardiovascular disease in women.

Agenda:

Cardiovascular Disease remains the leading cause of mortality in women. Despite advances in medical diagnosis and treatment, the rate of overall mortality reduction from this disease lags in women. There are unique differences in the method of presentation, diagnosis and pathophysiology of cardiovascular disease between men and women. There are also cardiovascular conditions that occur solely, or predominantly in women including: stress cardiomyopathy, spontaneous coronary artery dissection, microvascular ischemia and pregnancy related cardiac complications. There is also an emerging group of women who are survivors of female cancers, who are now exhibiting cardiotoxicities from their cancer therapies. The live CME event will discuss the differences between men and women with cardiovascular disease, vascular disease and stroke. The goal of this course is to improve patient care through education about these issues. There will be an opportunity for Q&A at the end of each presentation.
