Heart disease – the No. 1 killer of American women – and stroke account for 28.6 percent of all female deaths in Massachusetts, which makes prevention, early detection and prompt treatment key. In collaboration with the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women campaign, MGH health centers, the MGH Wellness Center and the MGH Institute for Health Professions will host a series of heart health events focused on stress reduction, diabetes and smoking cessation. They also will include blood pressure screenings and body mass index measurements. These events will be held from 10 am to 1 pm on Feb. 4 at MGH West in Waltham; Feb. 5 at the MGH Chelsea HealthCare Center; Feb. 12 at MGH Revere HealthCare Center; Feb. 14 at North End Waterfront Health; Feb. 19 at the MGH Charlestown HealthCare Center; and Feb. 26 at Everett Family Care. For more information, call (781) 485-6400.
