New hypertension guidelines could lower use of blood pressure medications

The Journal of the American Medical Association released new guidelines raising the treatment threshold for those over age 60. These guidelines recommend that doctors don’t prescribe medications until levels reach 150/90 mmHg rather than the previous recommendation of 140/90 mmHg.
