BiographyDr. Carlson recieved his BA from Harvard College and then completed his MD and PhD at Yale University. After finishing his residency in Internal Medicine at New York Hospital/Cornell Medical Center, he came back to Boston for a fellowship in Cardiology at Mass General/Harvard Medical School. He has been on the staff at Mass General Hospital, Brigham and Womens Hospital and Harvard Medical School since then. His clincal focus has been on Advanced Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplant. He serves on a variety of hospital committees and chairs the Cardiology Fellowship Selection Committee.
ResearchDr. Carlson has focused his clinical practice on Advanced Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplant. He is internatioanlly know for his work on the design and development of drugs using the three dimensional structure of proteins. His work has focused on renin inhibitors, carvedilol and growth factor mimetics, but includes biomarkers and immunosuppressants to prevent organ rejection post transplant
