Our Approach
Our Doctors
The cardiovascular genetics service at Massachusetts General Hospital provides genetic testing and counseling for patients and their family members. We take a multidisciplinary approach to care, and patients have complete access to the Heart Center's range of cardiac treatments and programs, including an expert cardiac surgical team.
Although lifestyle factors put a person at risk for heart disease, genetic predispositions also play a large role in a person’s risk for a cardiac condition. Together clinical and genetic screenings of patients and their family members, interpretation of the results and preventive advice can help patients live longer, healthier lives.
It is important for patients to speak with a physician about the availability of genetic testing, especially if they have a family history of cardiac conditions.
