Mass General Imaging in Chelsea, MA named a top imaging center in the country
Earlier this month, the American College of Radiology (ACR) named Mass General Imaging in Chelsea one of the first imaging facilities in the country to become a Diagnostic Imaging Center of Excellence (DICOE). The designation resulted from a comprehensive assessment of quality, safety and patient care.
"With this award, the American College of Radiology recognizes Mass General Imaging in Chelsea at the pinnacle of medical imaging care," says Debra L. Monticciolo, MD, ACR's Commission on Quality and Safety Chair. "It signifies that their facility provides essential services to the communities in and around Chelsea, Massachusetts at the highest levels of imaging quality, safety and care in the radiology profession."
In naming Mass General Imaging in Chelsea a top imaging center, an ACR team of experts assessed multiple aspects of the facility including professional staff, technology, equipment, policies, procedures and outcomes. In addition to standard ACR accreditation, DICOE designation requires participation in a national database to benchmark radiation dose for CT exams and a commitment to radiation safety in adult and pediatric imaging.
"We are incredibly proud to have our Chelsea facility recognized as a diagnostic imaging center of excellence by the ACR" said James A. Brink, MD, radiologist-in-chief at Mass General. "Radiology plays a critical role in patient care by using imaging to answer clinical questions. This designation tells doctors and patients that they can expect superior diagnostic insight and high-quality care from Mass General Imaging."
