BiographyI'm interested in providing compassionate care to patients who need interventional services. From personal experience, I understand that the hospital experience can be overwhelming: I strive to make it humane and caring.  My role as a physician at MGH is complemented by my role as a teacher, training younger physicians to provide care that meets my standards.
My long time research interests revolve around developing new methods to teach physicians and other caregivers, so that someday we'll all learn how to care without having to use patients as our teaching material.  I see that possibility through the use of medical simulation. Some of the simulation systems we've developed here at MGH are used around the world, and have changed how doctors, nurses, and paramedics learn their skills. Flight simulation makes flying safer for both the pilot and the passengers - medical simulation will do the same for physicians and their patients.
