The Massachusetts General Hospital Institute for Heart, Vascular and Stroke Care presents a dynamic symposium on novel interventional treatment options for patients with peripheral vascular disease.
Extreme Endovascular: Thrills, Chills, and SpillsDate: 09/15/2014 - 09/15/2014
Although there have been dramatic, recent advances in the medical and endovascular treatments for patients with peripheral vascular disease, the widespread prevalence but under recognition of these patients continues to result in profound morbidity and societal cost. The publication of new guidelines for the Management of Patients with Peripheral Artery Disease and the Management of Massive and Submassive Pulmonary Embolism, Iliofemoral Deep Vein Thrombosis and Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension have elevated clinician understanding of these disease processes and has improved critical decision-making and patient outcomes.
Through this case-based educational symposium, members of the multidisciplinary care teams at the Massachusetts General Hospital’s Institute for Heart, Vascular and Stroke Care bring to life the complex clinical scenarios involving patients with peripheral vascular disease and provide insight for cardiovascular clinicians that highlight novel opportunities for coordinated, interventional care to improve patient outcomes.
