World-class Innovation and Patient Care Since 1811, Massachusetts General Hospital has been committed to delivering standard-setting medical care. Through the decades, we have advanced that care through pioneering research and by educating future health care professionals. We are consistently ranked among the best hospitals in the United States.
Mass General offers sophisticated diagnostic and therapeutic care in virtually every specialty and subspecialty of medicine and surgery. Our five multidisciplinary care centers—known worldwide for innovations in cancer, digestive disorders, heart disease, transplantation and vascular medicine—unite specialists across the hospital to offer patients comprehensive, state-of-the-art care. Through MassGeneral Hospital for Children, we also provide a full range of pediatric health care services.
Leading-edge Research and Education
Mass General bridges state-of-the-art clinical medicine with innovative science. With an annual research budget of nearly $775 million, we conduct the largest hospital-based research program in the U.S.— a program that spans more than 20 clinical departments and centers across the hospital. As such, our patients have access to the latest treatments and clinical trials that are transforming the future of patient care.

Full-service Assistance for International Patients
Each year thousands of international patients come to Mass General seeking a consultation, a second opinion or medical treatment. The International Patient Center at Mass General is a full-service office that helps those patients and their referring physicians navigate the care journey.
We understand the stress associated with illness, particularly when treatment is received outside of one’s home country. Patients will be paired with an international patient coordinator, who serves as a single point of contact before, during and after the patient’s visit. The coordinator advocates for the patient and provides assistance on all aspects of his/her stay, including:
- Appointment scheduling with Mass General physicians
- Coordination of the admissions process
- Interpretation in 12 languages using Mass General Medical Interpreter Services and access to additional language services as needed
- Transportation arrangements, including airport pickup and ground or air ambulance services to Mass General
- Long- and short-term lodging arrangements for patients and their families
- Deluxe accommodations available at the hospital's Phillips House
- Assistance with financial arrangements, including advance estimates for fees, deposits and payments
