What are Wrinkle Relaxers?

Wrinkle relaxers are a diluted form of botulinum toxin, which are injected into facial muscles to relax or weaken the muscles that form wrinkles; each brand has a slightly different formulation.
Wrinkle relaxers are customized injections most commonly used for:

  • Creases between your eyebrows
  • The deep lines on your forehead
  • Crow’s feet around your eyes

If you can answer "yes" to these questions, you may want to consider a wrinkle relaxer.

  • Do you see frown lines on your forehead?
  • Do you have crow's feet around your eyes?

Our office offers the following FDA approved wrinkle relaxers that have been highly tested, and the injections are administered by one of our highly skilled doctors:

  • Botox® Cosmetic
  • Xeomin®

Getting botulinum toxin injections in from a non-medical setting can be extremely dangerous. To protect your health, you should never get botulinum toxin injections from someone who is not a highly skilled doctor.

How Do Wrinkle Relaxers Work?

One of highly skilled cosmetic dermatologists (skin doctors who help improve your appearance) injects very small amounts of botulinum toxin into targeted muscles. These injections temporarily relax the muscle.

What Can I Expect?

Treatment can be administered our office in less than 15 minutes and results can be seen over the next 3 to 7 days.  Individual results vary; but the effects usually  tend to last up to 4 months. After the treatments, you will still be able to frown and smile as you did before.  You will still have some facial expression, but wrinkles and frown lines are minimized. We are able to treat people of all colors and skin types.

Why Do I Need a Consultation?

Your treatment plan is customized to meet your specific goals and needs.  For this reason, a face-to-face consultation is required.  This allows your cosmetic dermatologist to develop the best possible treatment plan for you. Our doctors are also known for their artistry in helping create a natural refreshed look for you — not a look that is artificial or overdone. It will still be you, but better.

During the consultation, the doctor will:

  • Address your concerns and develop a personalized treatment plan
  • Review your general health
  • Evaluate your overall skin condition
  • Discuss risks and benefits of the treatment
  • Discuss the number and costs of treatment

A consultation is required and there is a fee for the consultation.

Is it Covered by Insurance?

No. Wrinkle relaxers and treatments that reduce the signs of aging are an elective cosmetic dermatology service. Cosmetic dermatology services are typically considered not medically necessary by medical insurance plans and are not covered.
