Summer Research Trainee Program (SRTP)

This program’s goal is to build a pipeline of URM college and medical school students interested in academic biomedical research careers. Through a vigorous national competition, a CDI selection committee chooses 15 students to participate in an eight-week summer research program at MGH. These students conduct original research projects and presentations with MGH faculty preceptors in basic science labs, clinical research sites or health policy research settings.

Visiting Clerkship Program (VCP)

This competitive program for URM students, co-sponsored by the CDI and the HMS Office of Diversity and Community Partnership, offers one-month clerkships at MGH or other Harvard-affiliated hospitals to non HMS fourth-year medical students who are minorities. To be placed at MGH, students should indicate that MGH is their first preference when applying to the VCP. The VCP students who rotate with the MGH for their clerkships are connected with CDI.

URM Medical Students Mentorship Program

The MGH is the largest teaching hospital affiliated with the HMS. CDI provides resources, mentorship, structured professional and social support, as well as guidance to HMS students through the URM Medical Students Mentorship Program. CDI also sponsors events and seminars for HMS students, including an annual welcoming reception with the MGH president.
