BiographyDr. Penson came from St Bartholomew's Hospital, London, in 1997 and is Clinical Director of Medical Gynecologic Oncology. His practice is devoted almost exclusively to gynecologic oncology with the majority of patients having ovarian cancer. Dr. Penson attends on the Bigelow General Medical Service at Mass General, sits on the national Gynecologic Oncology Group (GOG) committees for ovarian cancer, rare tumors, and quality of life research, and the NCCN Ovarian Committee. Dr. Penson serves as the chairman for panels C, E and F of the Institutional Review Board of Dana-Farber/Partners CancerCare, and is a faculty member teaching on Patient Doctor I, for first year Harvard Medical students.

ResearchDr. Penson takes a very active role in coordinating the investigation of novel agents and treatment strategies in ovarian, endometrial and cervical cancer at Massachusetts General Hospital. Leading or actively participating in the design, conduct and analysis of multiple clinical trials, with approximately 1/4 of his patients treated on therapeutic clinical trials.
