ResearchOur work focuses on the role of CD1-restricted T cells in human immunity to Mycobacterium tuberculosis.  

Over the past four years we have developed and validated CD1 tetramers for detection of TB-lipid specific T cells. Using tetramers, we have isolated human TB-specific CD1-restricted T cells for further study.

In collaboration with investigators at the KwaZulu Natal Research Institute for TB/HIV (KRiTH) in Durban, South Africa we are studying the impact of HIV infection on the frequency, phenotype and function of CD1 restricted TB-specific T cells.
