The MGH Department of Nursing’s commemorative book, MGH Nursing at Two Hundred, recently received Aster, Bell Ringer, Hermes and Lamplighter awards for publication, as well as a Hermes Award for overall design. These regional and international awards recognize and honor excellence and achievement in communications.
Several MGHers were honored during the Harvard Medical School Office for Diversity Inclusion and Community Partnership 2011-2012 Excellence in Mentoring Awards Ceremony June 5. Stephen Calderwood, MD, chief of Infectious Diseases, received a William Silen Lifetime Achievement in Mentoring Award; David Bangsberg, MD, MPH, director of the Center for Global Health, and Kenneth Bloch, MD, of the Heart Center and Anesthesia Center for Critical Care Research, received an A. Clifford Barger Excellence in Mentoring Award; and Khalid Shah, MS, PhD, director of the Molecular Neurotherapy and Imaging Laboratory in the Department of Radiology and Neurology, received a Young Mentor Award.
During the third annual Partners Sustainable Initiatives 2012 Earth Day Program, two MGH groups received Sustainable Champion Awards. The MGH Office Supply Swap and Recycle Team was honored for its creative approach to reducing waste, and the MGH Raising Environmental Awareness League (REAL) was honored for its long-term commitment to sustainable principles and practice throughout the hospital and improving the environment for patients and employees while reducing costs.
