Welcome to MGH West Physical Therapy Services.  As part of MGH Physical & Occupational Therapy Services we are proud to serve communities west of Boston.

Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy Services at Harvard-affiliated
Massachusetts General Hospital provide innovative care to patients in every
medical/surgical specialty, pediatric through geriatric. Comprised of more
than 130 therapists, many with advanced degrees and certifications, PT and
OT Services treats patients at our main campus and at our community-based
HealthCare Centers in Chelsea, Revere, Charlestown and Waltham. At each
location, our therapists are committed to continuing MGH's tradition of
excellence and equal access to exceptional care for all patients. We are
dedicated to providing each of our patients, their families, and our
surrounding communities with compassionate, culturally-sensitive care guided
by the latest developments in therapeutic and rehabilitative practice. It's
why patients travel to MGH from around the corner - and around the world -
seeking treatment for their complex or unusual cases.

As a new patient, you’ll receive a thorough examination to identify the source of your pain or dysfunction. Then you, your family and your therapist will work together to develop goals for your physical therapy and design a plan of care. Our goal is to restore you to your highest possible level of mobility and function for work, recreation and all of the activities of daily living. Your therapist will also maintain ongoing communication with your referring physician.

Mass General West has a highly trained, experience staff of physical therapists and offers a newly relocated practice with state-of-the-art technologies on the 3rd floor of MGH West .

At your first visit, you can expect:

Your first visit with the physical therapist may last for up to one hour. Please arrive 15 minutes early, as there is insurance and medical history information that we will need to obtain from you.

You may be asked to change into a hospital gown or shorts for the examination and treatment. If you would prefer, you may bring your own shorts to physical therapy.

After the physical therapy examination, the therapist will develop a plan of care to meet your individualized goals and establish how often and for how long physical therapy may be indicated. This is a collaborative process and your input will be integrated into the plan.

If you must cancel an appointment:

It is important for you to keep scheduled appointments. Should you need to cancel an appointment, please call our Front Desk (781-487-3800) as soon as possible so that we may offer the appointment to another patient.

If you have questions about your treatment:

If you have any questions about any aspect of your physical therapy treatment plan, please don't hesitate to ask your therapist. He/she will be happy to discuss your care with you.
