Research Fellow
Meiqian Weng, MD
Dr. Meiqian Weng obtained a M.D. from the Shanghai Traditional Chinese Medicine University and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Shanghai Second Medical School under Professor Sheng Mei Wu. She trained in Pediatrics and Neonatology at Xinhua Children’s Hospital in Shanghai before coming to the Developmental Gastroenterology Laboratory at Massachusetts General Hospital for Children as a postdoctoral fellow in 2003. She is funded from a Fogarty International Center Child Health and Human Development Training Grant (D43-TWO01265). Her research project involves defining the role of butyric acid in modulating the enteric toll-like receptor inhibitory protein (A-20) in controlling inflammation (IL-8) in the gut to bacterial pathogens. She will return to China to continue research next year
