General Neurology Service
The General Neurology Service at the Massachusetts General Hospital was established in 2001 to provide consultation assistance for primary care providers and other physicians. Board-certified clinical neurologists, each of whom has subspecialty training, provide advice and consultation to primary care physicians in the diagnosis and management of a full range of neurological problems, including weakness, headaches, numbness, tremor, memory loss, seizures. When further subspecialty neurological care is required, referrals can readily be made to appropriate subspecialty neurology services such as multiple sclerosis, stroke, migraine, epilepsy, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease, peripheral neuropathy, myasthenia, or myopathy. To request a consult from the General Neurology service, please have a primary care physician complete a Referral Form (PDF) (also available as a MS Word file) and fax it to the Main Clinic number on the form. If a patient is new to MGH, please call the Massachusetts General Hospital Registration Center at 1-866-211-6588 to get a patient number and “blue card”. MGH Neurology will contact the patient directly to schedule an appointment. Please contact the General Neurology Division coordinator at 617-726-5533 if you need more information.
