BiographyDr. Leslie-Mazwi specializes in both Neuroendovascular and Neurocritical care. He practices in the Neuroendovascular program as part of the Massachusetts General Hospital Vascular Centers comprehensive and coordinated approach to patient care, with a focus on cerebrovascular disease. His particular interests are stroke, atherosclerotic disease, arteriovenous malformations and intracranial aneurysms. He also manages the Neurocritical Care service for several months in the year, treating critically ill patients suffering from diseases of the brain and spine, and brings this clinical perspective to the endovascular care of his patients.
After graduating with honors from the University of Zimbabwe Dr. Leslie-Mazwi completed a Neurology residency at the Mayo Clinic followed by a Neurocritical Care fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital. He then completed a second fellowship, training in Neuroendovascular care at Massachusetts General Hospital, before joining the department as a staff member. His clinical work in the multi-specialty Neuroendovascular group also includes appointments on a variety of important committees working on quality improvement, carotid disease, endovascular stroke care and hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia. His clinical research has a broad focus, but is centered predominantly on acute endovascular stroke therapies.
Dr. Leslie-Mazwi serves as a reviewer for several cerebrovascular journals, is a member of the key societies in the field, including the Society of NeuroInterventional Surgery, and has a clinical appointment at Harvard Medical School.
