The Mass General / Project ALS Internship Program at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston offers undergraduate students an exceptional opportunity to gain firsthand experience in the clinical research and care of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), commonly known as “Lou Gehrig’s Disease.”
ALS is a rare disease in which motor neuron cells die. As these cells die, the body experiences progressive weakness of the limb, facial, and diaphragm muscles. In the United States, approximately 5,000 people every year will be diagnosed with ALS, and about 25,000 currently live with the disease.
Working in a world class Neurology department alongside clinical staff, interns will support the activities of the MGH ALS Multidisciplinary Clinic and the Neurological Clinical Research Institute (NCRI), including coordinating patient visits, shadowing clinical staff, learning how clinical trials are structured and run, as well as performing general office duties. Interns are also involved in projects that support their educational and career objectives.
The application is due on January 1st, 2018. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org with:
