The Brigham and Womens Hospital and the Massachusetts General Hospital are committed to improving the care of patients with neurologic disorders by advancing research. The two hospitals routinely top the list of independent hospital recipients of
NIH funding in the nation. Neurologic research is carried
out at various sites including the hospitals themselves, the
MGH East Research Campus in Charlestown Navy Yard, the Center
for Aging and Neurodegenerative Disease at the MGH East Campus,
and the Harvard Institute of Medicine at the Harvard Medical
School Campus. In addition Partners neurologists are based
at, or collaborate with, laboratories at Harvard Neurobiology,
MIT, and McLean Hospital. The Neurology resident is exposed
to advances in clinical and bench research while involved
in patient care as well as in a formal neruoscience lecture
series. For the resident interested in research a host of
opportunities exist to visit or work in a multitude of laboratories
or attend almost daily conferences in Neuroscience or Clinical
investigation.
The clinical services listed in the faculty
and clinical programs page include clinical and basic
research efforts devoted to specific neurologic diseases.
Those plus the following list provide a glimpse into the rich
research environment available to the Partners Neurology Resident.
