Research in the Molecular Neurosurgery Lab focuses on the use of herpes simplex virus (HSV) vectors for cancer therapy and gene delivery in the nervous system, with the long-term goal being the therapeutic application of these vectors to patients.
The Neural Prosthetic Lab seeks to improve the effectiveness of CNS-based neural prosthetics by understanding how and why neurons respond to electric stimulation. We use this knowledge to develop improved methods of stimulation. Projects focus on retinal prosthetics, DBS and other devices.
