To celebrate the legacy of W. Gerald Austen, MD, and dedicate the new W. Gerald Austen, MD Inpatient Care Pavilion in the Lunder Building, hospital leadership – including Peter L. Slavin, MD, MGH president; David F. Torchiana, MD, chairman and CEO of the MGPO; and Roman DeSanctis, MD, director emeritus of Clinical Cardiology – and Austen’s family members and friends gathered for a June 23 ceremony as part of Lunder Dedication Week.
An estimated 65,000 individuals attended the Boston Health & Fitness Expo.
The Partners Strategic Initiative is an ongoing effort to improve care and increase efficiency across all Partners institutions, including the MGH.
The first of several hospital departments have begun to transition their services into the Lunder Building.
The opening of the Lunder Building provides patients, visitors and employees the option of staying indoors while walking between the Yawkey and White buildings and offers a convenient route to and from the Charles Street/MGH Red Line MBTA station.
With the completion of the Lunder Building – a 530,000-square-foot, 14-floor facility featuring the latest in medical technology and architectural design – the MGH is once again leading the way in patient care.
The MGH recently hosted the 21st annual meeting of The Society of Black Academic Surgeons.
