Nursing & Patient Care Services Informatics is responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating clinical and administrative information tools and systems.

Our staff is available Monday through Friday (excluding holidays), during usual business hours. Department communication beyond these hours is accomplished by electronic and/or voicemail systems.

Nursing & Patient Care Services Informatics integrates clinical science, computer science, and information science to manage and communicate data, information, knowledge, and wisdom in nursing and health professions practice. Informatics activities include the design and use of informatics solutions and/or technology to support all areas of nursing and the health professions. This includes but is not limited to the direct provision of care, establishing effective administrative systems, managing and delivering educational experiences, supporting life-long learning, and supporting nursing research.

Primary responsibility of Nursing and Patient Care Services Informatics staff is to lead or participate in a variety of projects related to the design, development, and evaluation of information systems, and state-of-the art, easy-to-use information tools, as a means of supporting clinical practice, research, and education at the Mass General and Mass General Brigham. Staff work with individuals or teams that include clinical staff, Mass General Brigham informatics staff, application development staff, and analysts. In addition, NPCSI staff manage aspects of projects that relate to business and clinical functional requirements, detailed software requirements, clinical knowledge integration, and consultation for application development.

  • Discharge Documentation module of Provider Order Entry
