Quality and Safety in Obstetrics and Gynecology
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Massachusetts General Hospital is committed to providing the highest quality patient care and safety, and continuously evaluates its best practices. The department places significant emphasis on our quality assurance (QA) program, lead by maternal fetal specialist Jeffery Ecker, MD. Our QA team is comprised of physicians, nurses and administrative staff working collaboratively to actively review and study patient care activities provided by our five clinical divisions:
- Specialized gynecology
- Obstetrics
- Gynecologic oncology
- Reproductive endocrinology and infertility
- Female pelvic reconstruction and urogynecology
Our QA team also develops and implements initiatives aimed at improving systems and processes across all our divisions.
Our department tracks many performance measures, and weighs them against our own goals in addition to national benchmarks. On the following pages, you can view some of these metrics, as well as quality improvement projects that are underway or have been completed.
