Nurturing the Science of Clinical Investigation

Welcome to the Center for Applied Clinical Investigation (CACI), an academic institution that pursues clinical research and mentors clinical investigators in the field of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Created by the MGH Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, CACI brings together faculty, trainees, and resources. The resources include funding, a clinical research curriculum, and expertise in clinical research methodology. This unique combination of personnel and resources inspires rigor, productivity, and dedication among academic oral and maxillofacial surgeons seeking to pursue clinical research.

CACI offers a variety of pre-and post-doctoral opportunities. Post doctoral oral and maxillofacial surgeons pursue structured, mentored fellowships in clinical investigation leading to an M.P.H. degree from the Harvard School of Public Health and a certificate in Clinical Investigation. Pre-doctoral candidates may pursue mentored research to meet undergraduate requirements and lead to publication of original work. There are also opportunities for junior and senior oral surgery faculty to collaborate on major clinical research initiatives.
