The Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and the Center for Applied Clinical Investigation offer a two-year post-doctoral Fellowship in Clinical Investigation. This unique curriculum leads to a Masters in Public Health degree from the Harvard School of Public Health (HSPH) and a Certificate from the MGH. Currently, this fellowship is offered through the generous support of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Foundation (OMSF)
The ideal candidate is a Board-certified or Board-eligible oral and maxillofacial surgeon who is completing or has recently completed a residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery. In some cases, the fellowship structure may be altered to fit the specific needs of an exceptional candidate. Candidates should be seeking a career path in academic oral and maxillofacial surgery.
Because the availability of this fellowship is limited and subject to ongoing funding, we encourage interested candidates to communicate with CACI during their residency training years. In some cases, candidates may begin pilot research projects with CACI mentors during their residency training in order to optimize productivity as a Fellow.
The Fellowship in Clinical Investigation is a two-year curriculum, during which the fellow pursues coursework at the Harvard School of Public Health while conducting original, independent clinical research. It is expected that fellows will present their research at national and international meetings and produce at least one manuscript for publication in a major academic journal. Funding covers HSPH tuition and provides a stipend. Candidates must commit to serve in an academic position for five years following completion of the fellowship.
