Award supports young oral and maxillofacial surgeons committed to academic careers
Shelly Abramowicz, DMD, MPH, Instructor in Oral and Maxillfacial Surgery at HSDM and currently practicing at Children's Hospital Boston, was awarded the Faculty Educator Development Award (FEDA) presented jointly by the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS) and the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Foundation. The award was presented at the annual scientific meeting of AAOMS in Chicago this week. It was established to encourage promising young oral and maxillofacial surgeons to choose an academic career in the specialty, encourage promising faculty members who have been on faculty for up to five years to continue their academic career, and provide financial incentive to CODA-accredited residency programs to retain and recruit oral and maxillofacial faculty. Dr. Abramowicz is a faculty member of the MGH Residency Program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
