Training

The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery offers a wide range of opportunities for pre- and post-doctoral clinical and research training.

Our residency training is a six-year, integrated double-degree program leading to an M.D. degree from Harvard Medical School and a certificate in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from the Massachusetts General Hospital.

Our pre-doctoral externship is an opportunity to gain in-depth experience in oral and maxillofacial surgery beyond the typical dental school curriculum.

We are committed to post-doctoral fellowship training in specialized aspects of oral and maxillofacial practice and research. Currently we offer fellowships in Pediatric Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Clinical Investigation, and Orofacial Pain.
