Your support of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital is an investment in our clinical and scientific pursuits.
Supporting the Next Generation of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons
The Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery reserves a percentage of its clinical income to support proposals of interest and innovation by residents, fellows and students. The Education and Research Fund (ERF) is currently funding a series of pilot studies by HSDM students and Mass General residents with faculty mentors. Established in 2004, the ERF has helped Mass General residents and HSDM students become prolific contributors to the scientific literature and visible presenters at national society meetings, frequently winning awards for papers, presentations and poster sessions. Grant proposals are accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis.
Our department also maintains a student research program for dental students wishing to pursue research in oral and maxillofacial surgery. The Student Research Training Award (SRTA) is funded by a generous grant from the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Foundation. Grant proposals for research stipends are currently being accepted. For information, contact Dr. Sung-Kiang Chuang.
