Description of NP Role: My current role as an advanced practice nurse at MGH involves providing comprehensive health care for pediatric orthopaedic patients. This involves assisting in the diagnosis and management of both acute and chronic pediatric orthopaedic conditions. I currently work collaboratively with the three pediatric orthopaedic surgeons in the department as well as the multidisciplinary pediatric team. My responsibilities also include pre and post-operative teaching and management, anticipatory guidance, triaging urgent care phone calls, and providing extensive family and patient education. I have recently received training to act as a Registered Nurse First Assist (RNFA) in the Operating Room. I have also been involved in developing presentations and educational literature for orthopaedic surgeons, primary care physicians, and mid-level providers. Current Graduate Clinical Instructor at Boston College.
