Dr. Van de Velde received his MD degree from the K.U.Leuven, Belgium, in 2003. He completed rotations in general and orthopaedic surgery at the Amsterdam Medical Center and Leiden University Medical Center, the Netherlands. In 2005, he enrolled in the PhD in Medical Sciences program of the K.U.Leuven, Belgium, and joined the Bioengineering Laboratory at Massachusetts General Hospital. In 2006, he was awarded the Henri Benedictus - BAEF Fellowship of the King Baudouin Foundation to study the effects of cruciate ligament injuries on knee joint biomechanics.
