This course teaches front line providers the basics of diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal illness and when to refer.

Agenda:

This course addresses the outpatient care of common musculoskeletal problems by primary care providers. The diagnosis and non-surgical management of musculoskeletal disorders is covered in lectures, case discussions, and video demonstrations of examination and injection techniques.

Optional workshops in splinting and casting and interpretation of radiological studies are available.

At the conclusion of the course, participants should be familiar with:

  • The relationship between the anatomy and injury of specific anatomical areas
  • Initial management of many orthopaedic problems, acute and chronic
  • The musculoskeletal physical examination
