The American Pain Society has produced clinical practice guidelines for cancer-related pain in adults and children; fibromyalgia; arthritis, and sickle cell disease.

NCCN Cancer Pain Treatment Guidelines
The National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) is a consortium of major US cancer centers. One of their most important roles is to develop and distribute evidence-based guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of cancer and related symptoms and side effects. Current Guidelines include Adult Cancer Pain, Pediatric Cancer Pain, and Palliative Care.

NCCN Cancer Pain Treatment Guidelines for Patients
The National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) and the American Cancer Society developed this patient version of the same guidelines that are used by the prestigious cancer centers that are members of the NCCN. The guidelines are also available in booklet form from the American Cancer Society. The Guidelines are also available in Spanish: El dolor asociado con el cáncer Guías de tratamiento para los pacientes.

Fibromyalgia
Guideline for the Management of Fibromyalgia Syndrome Pain in Adults and Children may be ordered from the American Pain Society.

National Guideline Clearinghouse
The National Guideline Clearinghouse (NGC) is a service of the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), formerly known as the Agency for Health Care Policy and Research. The NGC contains a wealth of guidelines from many sources. Entering a search term such as "pain" will return many potential resources.

Pediatric Pain/Pain in Children

The American Academy of Pediatrics has several pain-related guidelines or policy statements:
