Originally from Long Island, New York, Doug has studied music at
Juilliard and Williams College before attending Mount Sinai School
of Medicine. Doug, a hematologist-oncologist, has developed a special
interest in treating patients' cancer-related symptoms, and exploring
the psychological impact of illness experienced both by patients
and their families. After his fellowship, Doug is now an attending
physician for the Pain and Palliative Care Program at Dana Farber
Cancer Institute and the Brigham and Womens Hospital in Boston.
"Being told one has cancer, or any serious illness, can be
devastating and turn a patient's and family's world upside-down.
We must remember that we aren't just treating tumors or diseases,
but rather fellow human beings with feelings and emotions that are
being incredibly strained by illness. I welcome the opportunity
and privilege to care for patients and families at such a difficult
time in their lives."
